Predicting The Next Opponent For Logan Paul and The WWE United States Championship

A photo of Logan Paul and Rey Mysterio at WWE WrestleMania.

Despite the odds being stacked against him, Logan Paul managed to walk away from WWE WrestleMania 40 with his WWE United States Championship. He picked up an impressive victory in a Triple Threat, but now the question is simple: who’s next in line?

Randy Orton

The first man to step up could be one of the competitors from the aforementioned Triple Threat. Randy Orton has a legitimate claim to this, as he could argue that Logan Paul never beat him.

During the bout, Paul usurped the ‘Apex Predator’ after he hit an RKO on Kevin Owens, stealing the win and retaining his title. Orton could reasonably suggest that he deserves a one-on-one rematch for the belt, especially considering that he didn’t directly lose.

A singles match between ‘The Viper’ and the United States Champion would be a good addition to the WWE Backlash card, especially with both men’s mainstream popularity.

WWE would be foolish not to capitalize on Logan Paul’s opportunity to earn a win over one of the industry’s greatest.

Bron Breakker

As of this week, Bron Breakker has officially left NXT behind and is set to become a key player in the future of SmackDown. With that in mind, there’s no better time than the present to capitalize on his popularity and allow him to face off against the United States Champion.

Both men are incredible athletes in their own right. Logan Paul took to WWE quicker than any celebrity performer, highlighted by his trust to work with some of the company’s top stars.

Breakker, on the other hand, is a freak of nature (in the best possible way), and his physical prowess at this stage of his career is, frankly, frightening. Putting these two in a match would be sure to light up an episode of SmackDown or a spot on an upcoming PLE.

Some may argue that it is premature to put Bron Breakker into the WWE United States Championship picture, but the concept of these two facing off is too appealing to turn down.

Rey Mysterio

An old opponent, but someone with a legitimate grievance against Paul. Rey Mysterio lost the WWE United States Championship to ‘The Maverick’ at WWE Crown Jewel in November 2023, and soon after underwent surgery on his knee, putting him out of action.

The former champion lost his title under nefarious circumstances, and Paul’s use of brass knuckles helped him knock out Mysterio.

Although it’s unlikely that ‘The Master of the 619’ would choose to go after the belt once again, he’d have a legitimate reason for picking a fight with his former foe. Also, it would be the perfect opportunity for Carlito to steal his moment and cost him the match, finalizing his expected heel turn.

Pitting Paul and Mysterio against one another would make for a captivating rematch, even if it would be solely to continue the dissension within the LWO

Bobby Lashley

This is slightly out of left field, but after the appearance of The Final Testament on NXT this week, Bobby Lashley (along with the rest of The Pride) seems to need to find a new focus. Lashley would do well to set his sights on Paul’s WWE United States Championship.

It’s been over 18 months since we’ve seen ‘The All Mighty’ with a title around his waist, and he doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down. Given how popular he and The Street Profits have been in this latest run, it would make sense to give him a shot at the gold.

The story would be simple enough: Lashley and the Street Profits want to win Championships, and with no definitive World Champion on SmackDown as it stands, Logan Paul would be the champion, ultimately falling in their sights.

Perhaps Ford and Dawkins could pursue Grayson Waller and Austin Theory, with their recent alignment with Logan Paul tying the trio together.

The prospect of Lashley being given one last run at the United States Championship is exciting, but the work between Champion and challenger would be solid regardless of who came away the victor.

LA Knight

YEAH. Sorry, it’s a force of habit.

The man that almost everyone had assumed would be Paul’s conqueror at WWE WrestleMania 40 should be in the conversation for his next opponents.

LA Knight has been unfortunate over the last year, just missing out on the Money In The Bank briefcase and having two unsuccessful opportunities at the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Now that his feud with AJ Styles seems to have concluded, ‘the Megastar’ should turn his attention to securing some silverware.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem likely that Knight will be on course for a championship showdown any time soon, but keep an eye on things as we begin to approach WWE SummerSlam.

Even though it’s in Logan Paul’s hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, he’s likely still going to be booed. It would be the prime (pun intended) opportunity to give LA Knight the moment he deserves.

Who would you like to see as the next challenger for Logan Paul’s WWE United States Championship?
