Preview: AEW Dynamite (03/13/24)-Big Business

AEW World Championship Match: Samoa Joe (C) vs. Wardlow Match Graphic

This week’s AEW Dynamite Big Business will have many eyes on it as Big Business could hold a big debut. The potential debut of Mercedes Mone alone would be enough reason to tune in, but we also have a stacked card! Darby Allin wrestles his last match before departing to climb Mount Everest as he takes on “Switchblade” Jay White! Willow Nightingale hopes to do what her friend Kris Statlander was unable to do last week as she tries to defeat the first-ever AEW Women’s World Champion Riho.

FTW Champion HOOK faces off with rival Brian Cage’s fellow Mogul Embassy members Kaun and Toa Liona (collectively known as Gates of Agony). He will be joined by the first-ever AEW World Champion, Chris Jericho, in his clash with the monstrous tag team.  In trios action, we will see the new Elite Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, and “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada take on Eddie Kingston, Penta El Zero Meido, and the returning PAC! Our focus will be on the main event as AEW World Champion Samoa Joe looks to defend the title against former partner-turned-foe Wardlow.

Can Wardlow win his first world title?

Samoa Joe and Wardlow will clash once more. The last time these men went head-to-head was for the TNT Championship. They played hot potato with the belt for a bit before Wardlow ultimately emerged with the belt. However, the two men have had drastically different trajectories since their first feud. Wardlow ended up losing all of his momentum along with his TNT Championship. On the other hand, Samoa Joe seemed like he could not miss and ended up vacating the ROH World Television Championship to pursue and eventually win the AEW World Championship.

Wardlow would finally regain momentum when he returned in October, demolishing Griff Garrison. With the Undisputed Kingdom behind him, Wardlow may have the best chance of any contender to dethrone Joe. If not for one wrestler, I would say Wardlow has this. Swerve Strickland is waiting in the wings and seems set to unseat Joe. That does not mean Wardlow cannot score the shocking win, but I do not see it happening. These two will have an amazing match, one no fan should miss!
