Can Sting win gold on last time?
Sting and Darby Allin have had an incredible run, it remains to be seen if they can keep that going to the AEW World Tag Team Championships. They will not have an easy time as defending champions Ricky Starks and Big Bill have shown countless times why they still have a hold on the gold.
The champions hold wins over FTR, Blackpool Combat Club, La Faccion Ingobernable, House of Black, and their most recent defense against Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara in a crazy street fight. It’s not a stretch to say this will be the toughest match-up Sting and Darby have faced together. Yes, they have beaten Ricky in the past, but Starks has truly found his footing beside the powerhouse Big Bill.
I would normally say the Tornado tag-team stipulation of this match would benefit the challengers, but I’m not sure that’s the case here. With Big Bill’s consistent presence in the match and not being limited by the standard tag team rules, that could be a game changer.
Let’s not forget Starks in this equation either he’s a former FTW Champion and has steadily improved since his last encounter with “The Icon” and Darby. The writing does seem to be on the wall for Sting and Darby to win before facing the Young Bucks at Revolution for Sting’s retirement match. However, I’m not entirely sure if that’s the case. I’m going to pick Sting and Darby but don’t be surprised if the champs retain their titles.
