WWE kicks off 2024 with a bang with the monumental New Year’s Revolution edition of its Friday night flagship show WWE SmackDown.

The last time the New Year’s Revolution moniker was used on live programming was roughly seven years ago, with the WWE Universe still remembering the moments the event provided fondly. On the first SmackDown of the year, it comes back and promises to be one for the ages!

With all that out of the way, let’s preview the inaugural WWE Friday Night SmackDown of 2024. Let’s run it down.

Full WWE SmackDown Match Card – New Year’s Revolution:

  • United States Championship Tournament – Finals: Santos Escobar vs. Kevin Owens
  • WWE Women’s Championship Match: IYO SKY (c) vs. “Michin” Mia Yim
  • Triple Threat Match: AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton vs. LA Knight

Starting the Year Off Right?

“Michin” Mia Yim scored one of the biggest wins of her WWE career when she pinned WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY in the ‘Holiday Havoc’ 8-Women Tag Team Match. After that huge victory, Michin has the opportunity of a lifetime as she challenges SKY for the title at New Year’s Revolution.

IYO will definitely not be in a good mood come the new year, considering she and the Damage CTRL were on a mighty roll before the aforementioned multi-person bout. The champion will definitely blow off some steam and Michin better be ready for the fight of her life.

It’s Michin taking on IYO SKY for the WWE Women’s Championship at New Year’s Revolution; do yourself a favor and begin the next 12 months right by not missing this contest!

A Chance to Dethrone the “Tribal Chief” at the Royal Rumble

The Royal Rumble is just around the corner and that means we are officially on the road to WrestleMania 40.

One of the headlining matches of the event will be decided on the New Year’s Revolution iteration of WWE SmackDown as Randy OrtonAJ Styles, and, LA Knight will go head-to-head-to-head to determine who challenges Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the big PLE.

All three men have a claim to be the one to tussle with the unbeatable champion, considering The Bloodline has interfered with their respective careers in big and impactful ways. On the SmackDown before Christmas, Styles, Knight, and, Orton tried to assert dominance and threw live rounds to cap off the night.

Many thought these men would stand together to eradicate a common enemy. Unfortunately, all have their vision of dismantling Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. Who will come out of this the number one contender for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship?
