AEW’s first taped stop at Montreal’s Bell Centre is also its last televised stop. As AEW presents a rare pre-taped edition of AEW Collision. More so, it was taped before this week’s AEW Dynamite.
However, it seems it has managed to seamlessly avoid any continuity issues despite it even including matches from the AEW Continental Classic.
Let’s preview AEW Collision now.
Two Days Straight
THIS SATURDAY!#AEWCollision 8pm ET/7pm CT TNT#AEWContinentalClassic: BLUE LEAGUE@bryandanielson vs. @AndradeElIdolo
In a huge #AEWCollision rematch, Andrade El Idolo (6pts) will face Bryan Danielson (3pts) this Saturday Night on TNT! pic.twitter.com/smmdaxQfOS
— All Elite Wrestling (@AEW) December 7, 2023
Regardless of how you acknowledge the tapings, one or another, Bryan Danielson worked two days straight despite his broken orbital bone and subsequent surgery.
On last night’s AEW Rampage, we saw Bryan defeat Daniel Garcia in the Continental Classic Blue League. Thus mathematically eliminating him. Tonight, it’s back to the grind, as he takes on Andrade El Idolo.
This is a very interesting match for a variety of reasons. The most obvious one being that it’s a rematch from a few weeks back. And it happens to be the match where Bryan actually broke his orbital rather than at the hands of Kazuchika Okada. On top of that, it’s Andrade’s second tournament match and Bryan’s third.
Who comes out on top here this Saturday on AEW Collision?
Canadian Battle
THIS SATURDAY!#AEWCollision 8pm ET/7pm CT TNT@OfficialEGO vs. @KennyOmegaManX
Facing off in their home country of Canada, Kenny Omega will face Ethan Page in #AEW singles action for the FIRST TIME EVER! pic.twitter.com/9dGH5uLsa8
— All Elite Wrestling (@AEW) December 7, 2023
The last time AEW came to Canada, Ethan Page tried to call out MJF, and the two wrestled. This time, Ethan Page calls out Kenny Omega. It may not be Manitoba or Ontario. But there’s always a level of reverence given to Canadians facing off in Canada. As seen just this Wednesday for Christian Cage vs Adam Copeland.
Kenny Omega has his sights set on eventually going after the AEW Tag Team titles alongside his Golden Jet partner Chris Jericho. While Ethan Page has been primarily a Ring Of Honor standout, feuding with Tony Nese and the two are now set to have an ‘I Quit’ match at Final Battle.
Can Kenny finally have a bounce back as a singles wrestler or will Ethan Page pull off the upset en route to Final Battle?
It’s That S**t From CHIKARA Again
Jon Moxley might get mad but, Eddie Kingston and Claudio Castagnoli are at it again. It’s Blue League Continental Classic action, pitting the long-time rivals against each other.
We saw them face off at Supercard Of Honor and at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam for the Ring Of Honor World title. For the year, they are at one apiece. So this would be the tiebreaker.
For Claudio, he has a win over Daniel Garcia and a shock loss to Brody King. Meanwhile, it’s Do Or Die for Eddie who has failed against the unstoppable Brody King and against Bryan Danielson. He cannot afford to lose here. Not just for his ego and long-standing hatred of Castagnoli.
But because a loss mathematically eliminates him and will guarantee he loses the ROH World title and NJPW STRONG Openweight title. And that the Modern American Triple Crown will be out of his reach.
Can Kingston FINALLY pull the much-needed win?
And finally, we have women’s action as Willow Nightingale takes on Mercedes Martinez. A rematch from ROH Supercard Of Honor last year where Martinez defeated Nightingale. All that and more tonight on AEW Collision.
