Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will star alongside Chris Evans in his first-ever Christmas movie Red One.
Red One sees “The Rock” take the lead role of red leather-clad Callum Drift alongside Santa Claus, played by J.K Simmons. A year ago, Rock teased the movie as a mix of ‘Jumanji,’ ‘Miracle on 34th St,’ Hobbs & Shaw,’ and It’s a Wonderful Life’ … with a sprinkling of Harry Potter. Please, Santa ‘Just Bring It’ in time for Christmas.
Red One Plot, Release Date, and Villain
The Rock’s Callum Drift is head of the E.L.F and looks set to protect Mankind from The Krampus. Mankind is the human race, not his former tag team partner otherwise known as Mick Foley. The Krampus is the anti-Santa who beats naughty children. Essentially, “The Rock’s” character is just trying to make the world a better place for Mankind. Get It.
“The Rock” confirmed the movie – also starring Lucy Lui, Nick Kroll, and Kiernan Shipka – wrapped filming in February.
‘The People’s Champ’ hopes Red One will spark a new franchise of high-octane Christmas flicks. He is set to earn ‘millions, and millions’ from the movie. Specifically, $50M which is what he is rumored to be being paid for Red One.

The film is a joint venture between Seven Bucks Productions, Amazon MGM Studios, Amazon Prime Original Films, The Detective Agency, and Chris Morgan Productions. It was originally slated for a 2023 release via Amazon Prime in time for festive viewing.

Strike While The Iron Is Hot
It appears the recent Screen Actors Guild strike has delayed the promotion and release of the Red One. This puts the future of the picture in limbo. The studio could wait a year and launch Red One with all the bells, whistles, and tinsel it feels it deserves.
Or, sneak it onto its Amazon Prime streaming service before Christmas Day like a dad returning from the pub on Christmas Eve and distributing presents under the tree.
The Rock’s Festive Cheer
If Red One doesn’t make it onto Amazon Prime in time for Christmas 2023, fear not. The Rock has plenty of festive moments for you to enjoy whilst you wait for Red One to drop.
The Young Rock TV show features two Christmas episodes. In Season 1, Ep12 “A Christmas Peril”, all three generations of Dwayne Johnson experience very different Christmases. In 1987, Dwayne and Rocky Johnson took jobs as a Mall Santa and Elf.
In Season 3, Episode 6, “Dwanta Claus”, Dwayne learns the true meaning of gift-giving at Christmas.
But let’s be honest, nothing will beat The Rock’s 12 Days of Christmas promo from the December 20, 2001 edition of SmackDown.
