Preview: WWE Raw (11/27/23) – CM Punk Returns After Almost 10 Years

The week begins and it’s bound to be a massive start to the week as WWE is reeling after Survivor Series: WarGames. WWE Monday Night Raw comes to us live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

Survivor Series: WarGames seems to have completely changed the complexion of the WWE Raw brand. And for once, it’s not hyperbole as not only do we have a very anticipated return from over a year in the making, to a massive surprise. Both of which are a part of this particular show going forward.

A topical episode of Raw took place here all the way back on February 23, 2009. En route to WrestleMania 25, back then, this was known as the Sommet Center. This episode of Raw saw Triple H, then WWE Champion, give chase to Randy Orton who was flanked by Ted DiBiase Jr. and Cody Rhodes. Chasing him for revenge after Orton punted Shane McMahon and then hit his wife Stephanie McMahon with an RKO the week before.

On the same episode, then WWE Intercontinental Champion CM Punk defeated then-Raw World Tag Team Champions The Miz and John Morrison to qualify for that year’s Money In The Bank Ladder match. Punk’s reign as Intercontinental Champion started in mid-January and would be ending two weeks later to JBL.

Meanwhile, Miz and Morrison’s World Tag Team title reign started in December when they defeated….. Kofi Kingston and CM Punk. It would end at the WrestleMania 25 pre-show when The Colon’s won them and unified both sets of Tag Team titles. From back then.

With all that in mind, let’s take a look at what to expect tonight on WWE Raw

Many Returns And Look At All Of These Toys To Play With

At Survivor Series: WarGames, we already had Randy Orton’s return slated. However, hell froze over with a return nobody saw coming: R-Truth. However, the man can now go sit and enjoy his privileges as a part-time legend. In the meantime, I guess CM Punk can stop by for some fun. He also showed up at Survivor Series. I guess.

What will CM Punk do? Well, who knows in his case.

However, with Randy Orton, there’s an actual thread to follow. As since his return was announced by Cody Rhodes last week, Jey Uso has clearly not been too thrilled about it. After all, he’s the one responsible for Randy Orton’s year-and-a-half-long hiatus in the first place.

Jey Uso has a very direct hand in that, as opposed to with Drew McIntyre, where despite his anger, there’s a clear gap in the fact that Jey Uso was never pre The Judgment Day sent for that Clash In The Castle match.

What is next now that this battle against The Judgment Day is seemingly finally settled and with all these new parts now available? Let’s see. Because there is A LOT to process coming out of WarGames.

Battle Of The Big Men

Big E is smiling somewhere right now as we get this big battle between to very burly but athletic men. Ivar goes one one-on-one with Bronson Reed. Two NJPW alumni that have traveled similar paths. Though not quite the same as Ivar is far more well-known as a successful tag team wrestlers.

Winning tag team titles alongside Erik in 5 different wrestling brands. However, not quite being able to show much of his abilities as a one-on-one competitor. These two started coming to blows seeking to go after the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Can one meaty man beat the other meaty man, I should stop. Who will win?

Who Challenges The Judgment Day?

The Judgment Day may have fallen short at WarGames, however, Finn Balor and Damian Priest are still the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions. As such, new challengers are to be selected tonight. The New Day, Alpha Academy, The Creed Brothers, and #DIY fight in a Tag Team Turmoil match.

Tag Team Turmoil is WWE’s term for tag team Gauntlet match. Meaning two parties start, in this case, two tag teams. Wrestle the match, pin a member of the opposing side, and move on as the next tag team comes out. Let us wait and see who comes out winning.

All That And More

Rhea Ripley managed to vanquish Zoey Stark at Survivor Series, but who’s next to challenge? And when will Natalya and Tegan Nox get their title shot against Chelsea Green and Piper Niven? Let us find out tonight on WWE Raw.
