All Elite Wrestling‘s debut at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky continues with tonight’s edition of AEW Rampage. The newer building was first opened in 2010, however, despite WWE visiting them once when it opened, wrestling hadn’t returned until 2017. That would be for an episode of SmackDown on April 18th of that year.
And this particular edition of SmackDown happened to feature Jinder Mahal defeating Sami Zayn, Luke Harper, Dolph Ziggler, Mojo Rawley, and Erick Rowan to become the #1 Contender to the WWE Championship. And that title match that followed happened to take place on WWE Backlash 2017. Where, in fact, Jinder Mahal defeated Randy Orton to win the WWE Championship. Now then, let us preview tonight’s edition of AEW Rampage.

AEW Celebrates ‘Día De Los Muertos’
The Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated every November 1st and 2nd. A holiday that looks to celebrate and commemorate the lives of those who have passed away. Wrestling in Mexico tends to also get festive with many events built around the holiday. None more notable or memorable than CMLL’s annual ‘Día De Los Muertos’ week of events.
Where their Tuesday Arena Mexico show has a ‘Torneo Cibernetico’ (a Gauntlet Match) to select a #1 Contender to challenge “El Rey Del Inframundo” (King Of The Underworld). A title that is defended annually in this event. The winner retains. But the loser is dragged away by the dead and taken to hell.
To celebrate the holiday, AEW has…. Well, ironically it’s a match involving AAA talent rather than CMLL. Nonetheless, the match celebrates the holiday. The current AAA Mega Champion El Hijo Del Vikingo and AAA Cruiserweight Champion Komander as well as Penta El Zero Miedo all face off in a 3 Way match. Three extremely crazy luchadores are set to clash as Rampage continues its weekly tradition of one lucha match per show. This one may just be one of the wildest yet.
The Skye Is Clear
After being misted by Julia Hart, it seemed Skye Blue would be succumbing to the same fate as The House Of Black’s mistress of the occult. But on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Skye Blue seemed fully capable of shaking the corruption away. As she saved Willow Nightingale from Julia Hart by misting her with her own blue mist. Saving both herself and Willow from the corrupting black mist that once turned Julia Hart from a happy cheerleader to AEW’s top goth girl.
Skye Blue’s first match since avoiding the dark is against Marina Shafir. Who’s been garnering a bit of attention outside of AEW lately by teaming up with none other than Ronda Rousey at a Lucha VaVoom event and will do so again the same week as Full Gear. Will Skye Blue manage to get the win back? Or will Marina Shafir win to lay some rather interesting breadcrumbs?
Two New Yorkers Meet
There’s New York vs New York action on AEW Rampage as two men from opposite corners of the state meet for the first time one one-on-one. Trent Beretta takes on Daniel Garcia. These two standouts of the independent wrestling scene have not had a chance to meet yet.
Here they are now. Trent always has the Best Friends and Chuck Taylor to always fall back on. But Daniel Garcia has been struggling since he and the rest of the Jericho Appreciation Society separated themselves from Chris Jericho. Matt Menard has continually chastised Garcia for his dancing. Can Garcia manage to finally make it work? Or will Trent set out on a solo run with a win here?
All that, plus The Gunns take on Ring Of Honor staple tag team and former ROH World Tag Team Champions Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal before they set out to challenge MJF and a mystery tag team partner for said titles at the Full Gear Buy-In and more to come on tonight’s edition of AEW Rampage.
