WWE NXT this week produced week one of their two-week Halloween Havoc special. The show had several matches confirmed prior including a combination of title matches, tournament semi-finals, Halloween-themed matches, and even an exciting in-ring debut. Here are the main talking points from the October 24 NXT.
Lyra Valkyria Shocks Becky Lynch To Become New NXT Women’s Champion
The match between Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria was an intriguing one from the start, as the two have similar backgrounds. With their match, Lynch and Valkyria made history as this would be the first time two Irish women competed against each other for a WWE title. Beyond that, this was the first ever all-Irish title match in WWE history, as the promotion confirmed.
This already felt like a big match and an additional layer was added as WWE‘s latest and hottest signee, Jade Cargill, made her way out to watch the action from a bit closer. Lynch was coming off of yet another successful title defense on the October 23 edition of Raw, as ‘The Man’ vanquished former NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell.
Undoubtedly one of the best reigns of the championship, Lynch was true to her promise of elevating the title and using it as a way to test several members of the roster.
The two competed in a highly contentious match as they both traded offense, showing how well they knew each other. Valkyria ultimately comes out on top to be crowned the new NXT Women’s Champion. Following the match, Lynch embraces and endorses Valkyria in what seems to be a passing of the torch moment.
Cargill, still watching it all unfold, was very impressed by what she saw. For now, the NXT Women’s division comes under the leadership of Valkyria.

Chase U Gets Their First Piece Of Gold With NXT Tag Team Championships
The Family had the gold since The Great American Bash and, at the No Mercy PLE in late September, they successfully retained against three other tag teams. Following a victory in the Bada Bing Bada Boom Battle Royal in the week prior, Chase U found themselves next in line for a shot at the tag team gold.
The popularity of Chase U is undeniable, and the team looked to earn their first piece of gold in the WWE. The match quickly shifted into high gear as both The Family and Chase U looked to leave night one of Halloween Havoc holding the gold. There were several close calls from both sides but, following a distraction from Jacy Jayne, Andre Chase capitalizes to pick up the pinfall victory and Chase U becomes the new NXT Tag Team Champions.
Kelani Jordan And Lola Vice Earn Their Spot In The Tournament Finals
The NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament is coming to an end on week two of WWE NXT Halloween Havoc. Prior to that, the semi-finals took place on the October 24 edition of NXT, which marked week one of the two-week special. Kelani Jordan and Lola Vice got their victories over Arianna Grace and Karmen Petrovic respectively to book their spot in the finals and inch closer to a championship match contract.
Jordan and Vice are both popular with fans and, right from the start of the tournament, have been considered favorites to win the tournament in its entirety. Following them both qualifying for the finals, the two had a face-off ahead of next week. Though the two respect each other, they also understand that they stand across the person standing in their way of becoming the next top female star of NXT.
