WWE NXT Recap (9/26/23) – Trick Williams Earns A Title Opportunity At No Mercy

Trick Williams on an episode of WWE NXT.

WWE NXT this week promised and delivered an exciting go-home show ahead of the No Mercy PLE on Saturday, September 30. Several segments took place on the September 26 edition of NXT and even saw some new match additions to the Bakersfield, California card. The crowd was fired up right from the get-go as all the hard-hitting action took place. Here are the main talking points that took place this week.

Trick Williams Punches Last-Minute Ticket To Challenge Dominik Mysterio For North American Championship

This match was confirmed only an hour before WWE NXT went on-air, as Shawn Michaels made the post on his X account that a triple threat match would determine Dominik Mysterio‘s next challenger. Axiom, Tyler Bate, and Dragon Lee would be the ones to get the opportunity to punch a last-minute ticket to No Mercy with the chance to capture the North American Championship.

This was much to the annoyance of Mysterio who was ready for a little “No Mercy, No Dom” vacation. Trick Williams, who had already been successful in an earlier match-up, managed to insert himself into the contest, making it a fatal four-way match instead.

The match was a highly contentious affair as all four wrestlers tried to secure the title opportunity for themselves. As is the case with fatal four-way match-ups, there were a few pinfall break-ups and, with this match, there were even a few simultaneous submission attempts.

It was clear that the one who would get the victory would have to defy the stacked odds. Williams would prove to be the one to emerge victorious in this match-up, outsmarting his three equally determined adversaries. Williams believes this is his time to rise to champion status, and he fully intends to have the entire Mechanics Bank Arena screaming “Whoop that Trick!” at No Mercy.

Butch Earns The Right To Challenge Noam Dar For NXT Heritage Cup

Butch and Joe Coffey wasted no time in their quest to determine who would earn the right to challenge Noam Dar for the NXT Heritage Cup at No Mercy on Saturday. Dar, and the rest of Meta-Four, watched the action unfold as Butch and Coffey went into battle. Motivated by their common desire to claim the NXT Heritage Cup, Butch and Coffey pushed each other to the limit.

Having competed over the last few weeks, this match was the final step to getting to that title opportunity. Butch and Coffey delivered a hard-hitting match but ‘The Bruiserweight’ ultimately came out on top in this battle. All that remains now is to take on reigning champion Dar, who has not been through the wear and tear of competition over the course of the tournament.
