Has the Devil run out of luck?
AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman, MJF, will face easily the toughest test of his title run. I do not say this because of his opponent, the “Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe, although he would be worthy of it. This comes down to the neck issues of MJF and how that will play into Wednesday night’s match.
While MJF’s recreation of the infamous Scott Steiner promo does give some confidence, one has to wonder how long MJF’s body can hold up. The neck, without factoring in the injury, is already one of Joe’s favorite targets as his “Muscle Buster” finisher greatly impacts it. It now opens up a wide array of neck cranks that are just going to torment “The Devil”.
I can certainly see MJF finding a way to pull out the win here, but as I already stated, his body is battered. Samoa Joe is just going to better him more. It will be a fantastic match and lead to more questions than answers. Regardless of the outcome, you will not want to miss this episode of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam!
