Preview: AEW Dynamite (9/6/23) – Fallout from All Out

AEW Dynamite match graphic featuring MjF.

This week, we once again don’t have much announced in the way of matches. We know that with All Out behind us, AEW will start its build towards Grand Slam. AEW World Heavyweight Champion and one-half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions MJF will address his confrontation with Samoa Joe. “Hangman” Adam Page is also set to address the crowd after winning the Over the Budget Charity Battle Royal. Our focus will be on the World Title Eliminator Tournament.

8 Men One Title Shot…Who Will Win?

So far, the only participant we know of competing in the tournament is Roderick Strong, even though it is yet to be made official. Given how involved he is with the ongoing story between Adam Cole and MJF, he immediately sets himself ahead of the pack.

However, I don’t see this playing out that way. Strong could easily and believably win, but I think we’ll see AEW head a different route. There is one other World Title match brewing in the background of AEW television, for the ROH World Championship between reigning champion Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston.

Given the tournament is only being dubbed as a “World Title Eliminator Tournament” and not specifically for the AEW World Title, I think they’re being intentionally vague. Given that MJF currently seems set to feud with Samoa Joe, it looks even more likely that AEW will use this to set up Claudio vs. Kingston 2. Regardless AEW has always delivered in these tournament formats and I look forward to seeing what happens!
