This week’s episode of WWE NXT follows up Heatwave 2023, which took place last week Tuesday. Heatwave was a stacked event that set up several major stories to build up to the No Mercy PLE on Saturday, September 30. With just over a month to go until that major event, these next few episodes of NXT will be crucial. The road to No Mercy begins with this episode of WWE NXT, and here is all you need to know ahead of the show.

Creed Brothers And The Dyad Go To Battle In A Steel Cage Tag Team Match
The Creed Brothers and The Dyad have had their rivalry bubbling for several weeks now, and it all comes to a head when they finally meet on this episode of NXT. At Heatwave last week, The Dyad’s Schism stablemate, Ava, was ambushed by The Creed Brothers before the two tag teams agreed to settle their differences inside the ring.
These two tag teams will have nowhere to run as they will be locked in a steel cage with only one team emerging as the victors. Steel cage matches are known for the ultra-violence they often provide, which should make for a thrilling factor in this already-heated feud.
Fatal 4-Way Action To Determine NXT Women’s Championship No. 1 Contender
The NXT Women’s Championship scene has heated up quickly with a number of wrestlers in the division vying to be next in line for a shot at Tiffany Stratton and the gold she possesses. The champion took to the ring last week to make a statement to the division, as well as the entire WWE Universe, before Gigi Dolin, Roxanne Perez, Blair Davenport, and Kiana James all stormed the ring throwing their names into title contention.
Each of these wrestlers has solid reasoning as to why they should be next to challenge for the gold and, on this week’s episode of NXT, they meet in fatal four-way action to determine who will become the new NXT Women’s Championship No. 1 contender.
The one who will emerge victorious will be one step closer to being the leader of the NXT women’s division but, before they get there, they will have to outsmart three other equally-determined wrestlers in this match-up.
Axiom And Akira Tozawa Kick Off The NXT Global Heritage Invitational Tournament
The full table for the NXT Global Heritage Invitational Tournament has been revealed, with two groups of four wrestlers set to take part in Round Robin-style competition over the next few weeks. The highest scorers of groups A and B will then go up against each other on September 26th, with the winner earning the right to challenge for Noam Dar‘s NXT Global Heritage Cup at No Mercy.
Kicking things off this week will be Group A’s Axiom, who will be representing Spain, going up against Group B’s Akira Tozawa, who represents Japan. This is an intriguing and promising start to the tournament, and it could set the pace for the rest of the field all whilst giving Dar a glimpse of what he could expect.
Dijak And Eddy Thorpe Meet Once Again
The feud between Dijak and Eddy Thorpe has been consistent over the last couple of weeks with the two even already having a match-up. On the August 1st episode of WWE NXT, the two met in singles action with Dijak overcoming Thorpe.
As it happens, their rivalry was only beginning then as Thorpe has appeared in vignettes over the last few weeks seemingly having a more fearless attitude and wanting another shot at Dijak, who looks to dispel any optimism his adversary has. Both Dijak and Thorpe are highly motivated to come out the victor, each with a point of their own to prove, and this makes for a bout that could exceed expectations.
