Lucky 21?
Orange Cassidy has been on a historic run with the AEW International Title. Thus far, Cassidy has defended the title an astounding 20 times and has come out on top each time. What’s even more impressive is he’s currently on a 13-match winning streak heading into this title defense against Swerve Strickland.
The Mogul Embassy’s leader came so close to ending this record-breaking period, with Strickland coming one elimination away from becoming the champion back on last Sunday’s Double or Nothing. Fortunately for Swerve, he’s going to get another crack at it, only this time, he’ll have Orange Cassidy one-on-one.
Strickland enters this match with major momentum after defeating Big Bill and Trent Beretta in their three-way bout last week on Dynamite. With Swerve knowing how it feels to be a step away from winning the International Championship, it’s safe to say he’ll do whatever it takes to secure the title once and for all. And with the Mogul Embassy firmly in Swerve’s pocket, Orange Cassidy must bring it his all to walk away still champion.
Will Orange Cassidy notch his 21st successful title defense or will Swerve Strickland be the man who ends it all this Wednesday night?
In the Crosshairs of Bullet Club Gold
The animosity between Ricky Starks and Bullet Club Gold members Jay White and Juice Robinson is reaching its fever pitch, with the AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR getting dragged into the situation. Back at Double or Nothing, Starks made good on his promise and eliminated both White and Robinson from the Blackjack Battle Royale. Both men took exception to this and put the beating on Ricky backstage. Fortunately, FTR arrived in the nick of time before the assault went any further.
However, the tag champs now find themselves as additional targets for Bullet Club Gold. These two warring sides will inevitably collide in one massive multi-man brawl sooner rather than later. But for now, Jay White wants Ricky Starks one-on-one now, and vice versa, with the intent to inflict immense violence on one another. After the events of last week, AEW officials have made it official. It’s Ricky Starks versus Jay White one-on-one!
With the bad blood between these two men getting worse by the day, this match will not be for the faint of heart. Watch it all unfold this Wednesday night, AEW Dynamite only on TBS!
