Preview: WWE SmackDown Tonight (3/24/23) – Friday Night SmackDown Card

Cody Rhodes competes against Ludwig Kaiser on Friday Night SmackDown

WWE returns to FOX this Friday with yet another exciting, action-packed edition of Friday Night SmackDown! Live from Las Vegas, NV, SmackDown will continue on a Road to WrestleMania which is becoming increasingly treacherous, if not exciting. Last week’s edition of SmackDown concluded with the return of a certain Canadian tag team who fans have been clamoring to see back together for quite some time. What will be in store for them on this week’s show? Indeed, what will be in store for anyone on this show? Let’s dive right into the weekly Friday Night SmackDown card preview to find out!

Cody Rhodes Vs. Ludwig Kaiser

This week’s preview kicks off with Cody Rhodes‘ return to singles action, where he will compete against none other than Imperium member, Ludwig Kaiser. Despite the successes of Imperium, it appears as though only WWE Intercontinental Champion, Gunther, is the only member capable of actually winning singles bouts. With Kaiser coming up against none other than world championship number one contender and 2023 Royal Rumble winner, Cody Rhodes, he has his work cut out for him and the odds are somewhat stacked against him in sin city. However, with Tribal Chief and Bloodline leader Roman Reigns clearly breathing down Cody’s neck, we will have to wait to find out if Cody’s still on his “A game” with so much at stake. Additionally, might Kaiser expect a hand from Gunther and Imperium?

LA Knight Vs. Rey Mysterio

WWE SmackDown Card Preview. LA Knight takes on Rey Mysterio on the latest edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

LA Knight takes on Rey Mysterio following their backstage interaction during last week’s show. Mysterio didn’t take too kindly to some of Knight’s words – with the brash loudmouth managing to upset the soon-to-be WWE Hall of Fame inductee with some choice words about Rey’s troubled son, Dominick Mysterio, and Rey himself, who Knight wants a match with at WrestleMania. Mysterio was so upset, in fact, that he slapped Knight right in the face, directly leading to tonight’s match. A big win for Knight is exactly what he needs, but with Mysterio heading into the Hall of Fame, he has a lot of momentum to ride upon. This one is tough to call. Find out who wins tonight on Friday Night SmackDown!

Not Announced But Expected for SmackDown

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are back together (do we call them Steenerico or Zowens? The Ozayn Layer?) and are finally ready to take on The Bloodline. We have been waiting for this reunion for quite some time and now that these two Canadians are on the same page at last, with Cody Rhodes on their side(is there anything this man can’t fix?), The Bloodline has never looked so threatened. Owens & Zayn are the likely contenders to face The Usos at WrestleMania, so expect the seeds to be planted tonight.

Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley came to blows last week, as a brawl broke out between the duo. This week, we might expect more of the same. They are two WWE superstars with a storied history; they don’t like each other and they are facing each other again at WrestleMania. Another brawl is likely.
