This match was actually supposed to take place two years ago in AAA Lucha Libre with the AAA Mega championship on the line. Omega went down with an injury prior to the match and plans had to be changed. Current AAA Mega champion Hijo del Vikingo will finally be making his in-ring debut for All Elite Wrestling on this upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite. Fans have been clamoring for it since Vikingo got elevated in AAA Lucha Libre with a push toward the top of the promotion back during the closed set days of the pandemic for lucha libre.
Depending on how this match goes, there’s a good chance we will see a rematch between Kenny Omega and Hijo del Vikingo later in the year. The match could easily be part of a marquee event card and fans are in for a special match between two athletically gifted wrestlers. We could also see the a future match take place in Mexico as the storyline progresses.
