There is a follow-up to World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) announcement from last week. WWE is coming back to Puerto Rico to present Backlash this coming May 6th at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan. Otherwise known as ‘El Choliseo’. It was noted that there was a gap between WWE’s weekly TV events a week prior to the event, to after. It was confirmed today that Smackdown will now air live from the same venue in San Juan on May 5th.

This is an oddity as WWE tends to make any back-to-back dates on one specific venue. In this case, they waited before announcing they would run several dates at the same venue.
It’s a practice that dates as far back as 2016 when WWE would have their Big 4 Pay-Per-View events, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, WrestleMania, Survivor Series, and announce them all bundled with Raw, Smackdown, and an NXT Takeover event.
Perhaps some sort of logistical issues caused a delay in announcing Smackdown.
As of this moment, a date has yet to be announced for the Raw after Backlash on May 8th. Perhaps a full week is about to be announced soon for ‘The Island Of Enchantment’?
