Free agent “Switchblade” Jay White can sign with any wrestling promotion he chooses. Promotions have interest in him, and the decision is about what is best for him financially and for his career. For over five years, the 30-year-old has had some memorable matches and has been a major part of why NJPW was successful. That chapter of his career has now closed, and the next chapter begins.
What does the future hold for Jay White?
Jay White recently had a “loser leaves NJPW” match at the Battle in the Valley against Eddie Kingston, which White lost. He also had a loser leave Japan contest with Hikuleo at The New Beginning event in Osaka last week. White lost that match too.
WrestleMania is coming up, and creative could easily set something up like this. Cody Rhodes is in the ring for the Raw after WrestleMania, holding the titles he claimed from Roman Reigns. Then, the arena goes dark. Cody could be confronted by someone in black as the lights come on revealing Jay White, standing in a WWE ring.
The Raw after WrestleMania is always huge, with returns and debuts happening as this is the biggest Raw of the year. White is outstanding in the ring and on the microphone. He draws ratings, can wrestle as a tag team or an individual, and just think about the matches waiting for him in WWE.
Jay White does have some ties to some WWE talent as well. He has worked with A.J. Styles, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Finn Balor, and Cody Rhodes, with whom he was in the Bullet Club faction. Another superstar he was colleagues with, Bronson Reed, was previously known as JONAH in NJPW. Reed has mentioned that it would be a pleasure to have White working with WWE.
Another reason White could be joining the WWE is the rumor that after WrestleMania is over, Roman Reigns may take an extended leave of absence. If the stories are true, White could slot in as the top heel while Reigns is gone. He could also add character to either brand as both shows lack an edge, a true heel. With so many connections within WWE, White could do any program with whoever he wants. Bringing in White could have many advantages for the WWE brand, inside and outside the ring.
The WWE brand could use another top-end talent who has the potential to take over. White has Reigns-type characteristics to hold any title he wants. There are so many possibilities for White in WWE to headline any event and bring in more revenue for the company.
