Preview: WWE Raw Tonight (02/27/23) – Full Monday Night Raw Card

WWE Raw Tonight - Becky Lynch & Lita vs Damage CTRL graphic

WWE Raw tonight comes to us from the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A venue that has housed Raw, Smackdown and even a trio of episodes of WCW Nitro including a 1998 episode that saw Goldberg defeating The Giant to retain the WCW World Championship, by impressively hoisting up the big man for his signature Jack-Hammer.

Raw this week has a sellout 8,172 seats per WrestleTix and has been mostly sold out for over a week now. A good sign as we’re going deep into WrestleMania season now. Let’s take a look at what’s been announced so far for the show.

Omos vs Lesnar?!?

I’ve heard of the Giant Space Flea from Out of nowhere trope, but this is ridiculous. After months of Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley being embroiled in a deep feud and their match at Elimination Chamber seeming far more like the setup of a fourth match rather than the culmination of a trilogy, out of nowhere we get MVP saying OMOS wants to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and expecting him to accept tonight. Where did THAT come from?!

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE is very much serious about the match. And Bobby Lashley seems to also have his own ‘out of the blue’ adversary in the form of Bray Wyatt with Uncle Howdy. We’ll be seeing how truly serious they are about this match for WrestleMania tonight.

Female Dream Team

Some reshuffling seemed to take place last week with Trish Stratus being pulled. Probably, to place Becky Lynch into this match as she and Lita confronted the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Damage CTRL and challenged them for their titles. That’s now set for tonight. Lita only had the WWF/WWE Women’s Championship available to compete for in her time. While Becky Lynch has never won the titles, though has challenged for them. Most notably, by teaming up with Charlotte Flair to face The Kabuki Warriors in the main event of TLC in 2019.

A Golden Ticket For The Miz

Last week, The Miz received a golden envelope, and the contents of it left him very excited. He’ll be making some sort of big Wrestlemania related announcement. It could be a few things. Him and Maryse in a Hollywood spoof commercial. Perhaps he’s hosting. A match? Who knows. But one thing is for certain. Miz TV will likely be a special edition. It always is.

More Female Action

Two matches were announced last week. The first being Piper Niven vs Candice LeRae as Nikki Cross seems to be reminding LeRae constantly about apparently always being left alone. While Piper Niven has been on the upswing, mostly, since he return to TV.

Also in action will be Asuka taking on Carmella. Asuka, of course, is fresh off winning the Elimination Chamber and will challenge Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s title at Wrestlemania. Carmella made her return a few weeks back, though not much has changed regarding her character.

Will Sami Try Again?

Last week, Sami Zayn tried to appeal to Kevin Owens for help against The Bloodline. But Kevin Owens was not interested. Instead, telling him to go ask Jey for help. Sami instead confronted Jimmy on Smackdown, trying to appeal to him while Jey simply watched on. In the end, Solo Sikoa chased Sami off. Will Sami Zayn try to appeal to Kevin Owens again tonight? Or will something else happen involving The Bloodline?

All that, hopefully something involving Cody Rhodes as well, hopefully. He is headlining Wrestlemania after all. And more. All on WWE Raw tonight.
