We have a loaded 13-match card to kick off the first AEW Dark of the year! In tag team action, we have a stellar contest to look forward to as Top Flight and The Workhorsemen collide. Sean Maluta returns to the AEW ring as he hopes to pick up his first win, but he’ll face a formidable opponent in Blake Christian. Brian Pillman Jr. vs. Christopher Daniels
Christopher Daniels and Brian Pillman Jr. collide to try and set the tone for the New Year. It’s been a few months since either man has been inside an AEW ring. Pillman’s last match saw him teaming with Griff Garrison in a loss to The Factory’s Cole Karter and QT Marshall. For Christopher Daniels, unless you count his appearance at Fight Forever in Tokyo, this will be his first appearance since losing to Jay Lethal in July’s Fyter Fest.
Though he has not been active inside of AEW, Daniels is actively competing in both Defy and New Japan STRONG. Both men need this win to start 2023 off right, but I will pick Daniels to score the win. Although Pillman could easily win this contest, Daniel’s experience is the only reason I give him the advantage.
Either way, this promises to be an excellent night of action, so tune in!
