The WWE Championship, currently the Unified Universal Championship, has had a long and storied history. The title’s lineage dates back to the days of the WWWF and has undergone a number of rebrands during this time. In keeping with this lineage we decided to take a look and answer the question “who is the longest reigning WWE Champion ever”.

Note: This list will be based on recognised days as champion which includes tape-delayed days.
Longest Reigning WWE Champion
- Bruno Sammartino – 2,803 days
- Bob Backlund – 2,135 days
- Hulk Hogan – 1,474 days
- Bruno Sammartino – 1,237 days
- Pedro Morales – 1,027 days
- CM Punk – 434 days
- John Cena – 380 days
- Randy Savage – 371 days
- AJ Styles – 371 days
- Hulk Hogan – 364 days
It is unlikely that we ever see a reign as long as Brun Sammartion’s again. Over 2800 days translates to 7.6 years! which means we would need to triple Roman Reigns’ current stint as unified champion.
Roman Reigns isn’t on this list of the longest reigning WWE Champions yet as he originally held the Universal Championship which has its own separate lineage. With the run he is on it won’t be any surprise to see the “tribal chief” make his way onto the list and he could easily surpass legends like Randy Savage and John Cena.
