It is Friday once more! Tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown will be live from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The road to Extreme Rules (it doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, does it?) is building pace, with former WWE superstars returning to the ring; old foes colliding and new feuds beginning. We have two confirmed segments to preview ahead of tonight’s show, with a fair bit of speculation to speculate over. Without further ado, let’s dive in and see what SmackDown has to offer this week.
Tag Team Fatal Four-Way Rematch: The New Day vs. The Street Profits vs. Alpha Academy vs. Los Lotharios – Winning Team Challenges The Usos
It was last week when these four teams were single-handedly decimated by the returning Braun Strowman. Strowman chose his narrative and, unfortunately, it was bad news for these eight men. However, tonight, this match will get another chance to go ahead – with the winning team earning a shot at The Usos‘ (Jimmy & Jey Uso) WWE Tag Team Championships upon successful completion of the match. The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods), The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins), Alpha Academy (Chad Gable & Otis) and Los Lotharios (Angel & Humberto) are four very talented teams and no matter who wins, a potentially great tag team match lies ahead. Who wins? Tune in to SmackDown to find out.
Logan Paul Comes to SmackDown
Need it be said once more that Logan Paul actually has the talent and potential to be a very good professional wrestler? We hate to admit it, but it’s true. Tonight, he brings the “media megastar energy” to SmackDown (WWE’s words, not mine) where it is believed he might challenge unified WWE and Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. Logan has gone on record with saying that he can defeat the Tribal Chief one-on-one and it looks like this match could be a potential destination sometime in the near future. Begrudgingly, it is one of the big money matches WWE can put on and, therefore, they are well within their right to do it. Roman’s wise man, Paul Heyman, will likely be around to respond to Paul tonight, so this segment could be fun. Tune into SmackDown on FOX to catch the return of Logan Paul and the rest of the action.
Not Announced But Expected for SmackDown
– What lies in store in the rivalry between Drew McIntyre and Karrion Kross? Surely, we’ll find out tonight.
– Liv Morgan is a dead woman walking. With a severely p*ssed off Ronda Rousey lurking around every corner, time is running out on this SmackDown Women’s Championship reign. Tonight, we’ll get the latest on this feud.
– The epic rivalry between Sheamus‘ Brawling Brutes and Gunther‘s Imperium is looking like it’s leading to a multi-man gimmick match at Extreme Rules. One of the best times in recent WWE history was the era of Shield (Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins) six man tag team matches – which were regularly the best matches on the card. The match this rivalry is likely leading to can easily live up to those matches.
