Editor’s note: this piece reflects the opinions of Kyle on the current WWE landscape, Triple H, and Braun Strowman as a performer.
As everyone knows by now, Triple H took over WWE creative in July and things have been going in a positive direction ever since. Triple H has overturned some of the less popular firing decisions and brought back names such as Dakota Kai, Karrion Kross (with Scarlett and without the mask and suspenders), Dexter Lumis, Johnny Gargano, and more. He even found a way to make Hit Row enjoyable without Swerve. He created a fantastic surprise return of Bayley and call up of IYO SKY. Mid-card belts matter, they are allowed to say the word wrestling, and ratings have gone up as well.
Bringing Braun Strowman Back to WWE Is a Mistake
With all of these changes, wrestling fans have really had something to be excited about when it comes to WWE. What awesome surprises does Triple H have in store for us moving forward? We were gifted an advance notice about a likely return. Multiple sources reported news that got the fans of WWE fans who have longed for a certain Wyatt Family member to make his way back to their televisions and now we know……that we will have to keep waiting because they are bringing back the wrong one.
Bray Wyatt has been one of the most captivating performers in all of wrestling over the last number of years. This is why it was such a shock when he was released in July of 2021. With him still being a free agent all this time later, it would make sense for WWE to bring him back under this new regime.
Instead, they have decided to bring back Braun Strowman, the least captivating of all Wyatt Family members who only made it because Vince McMahon loves big guys. He isn’t a great wrestler and he isn’t great on the mic either. WWE released him in June of 2021 and while it came as a surprise to many, it just didn’t seem like people were as upset as they were about other releases. He has been off controlling his narrative with fellow WWE castoff EC3 since they decided to start that promotion “Control Your Narrative”, but it seems when “the E” comes calling, you must answer. As it turns out, you answer quickly, because reports are saying he will be back on Raw as early as next Monday.
Of course, you can’t blame Braun Strowman for wanting to come back to WWE. Triple H has been getting rave reviews from both fans and wrestlers alike. Even AEW CEO Tony Khan has sung the praises of the new vision of WWE and where he sees the competition between the two companies changing. There is no doubt that the opportunities at WWE will be greater than the ones with CYN. The question is simply why does Triple H want to bring back Strowman in the first place? Especially when Bray is still on the market.
