Thunder Rosa announced in a tearful promo on Dynamite tonight that she will be stepping away as AEW Women’s Champion. Rosa will be stepping away to deal with an undisclosed injury. During the backstage interview with Tony Schiavone a four-way match at All Out between Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter, Britt Baker, and Hikaru Shida for the Interim AEW Women’s Championship was announced. The winner of that match will hold the Interim Championship until Thunder Rosa makes her return.

Much like Jon Moxley holding the Interim AEW Championship in lieu of CM Punk, AEW will see another interim champion. While any of the four women could conceivably win, the logical assumption to make would be Toni Storm winning the championship. The original match for All Out was Rosa defending against Storm in a one-on-one match, Making Storm champion would be an easy way to get there. The two have been tag teaming as of late under the name Thunder Storm.
Unfortunately due to the undisclosed nature of Rosa’s injury, there is no timetable as of yet for Thunder Rosa’s return. We wish Rosa a speedy and healthy recovery and hope to see her back in the ring very soon.
