Toronto — In WWEs worst kept secret, the Rebel Heart, Johnny Gargano returned after nine months away from the company, following his departure from NXT.

Gargano returns to Toronto the same arena where he and Tomasso Ciampa won the NXT Tag Team Championships against the former Revival of Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler (formerly Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder).
Gargano is a former NXT Champion, three-time North American champion, and a tag team champion alongside Ciampa being the only NXT superstar in history to earn triple crown honors in the brand’s history.
During the show, Gargano made their intentions on winning the WWE, Intercontinental and/or United States Championships clear. Johnny would be interrupted by Theory rekindling their time in NXT as part of The Way, however Gargano would super kick Theory setting up a rivalry between the two. Theory’s trash talk got him in too far over his head.
Many fans were unsure if they would ever see Johnny Wrestling in a WWE ring again given the presence of AEW, who would no doubt have interest in the former NXT Champion. With Triple H taking power the decision likely became clear for Gargano, return home to work under the man who gave him every opportunity to succeed. This time, his chance will be on the big stage on Monday Night Raw and the main roster.
