Brian Armstrong A.K.A Road Dogg Returns to WWE in Executive Position

Road Dogg

PWInsider and Dave Meltzer confirmed today that Brian James, A.K.A Road Dogg, has been brought back to WWE under an executive position.

While the exact nature and responsibility of the position have yet to be revealed, it would be logical to assume that it would be something to do with the creative process. Road Dogg worked behind the scenes both on Friday Night SmackDown and NXT, working his way to co-head writer of the former and a coach of the latter. This comes after Paul “Triple H” Levesque became the head of creative and Executive Vice President of Talent Relations. James was originally let go by the company in July of 2022, and made it clear in multiple interviews that he was looking for a job, even going as far as to say “I have been begging Tony Khan for a job [at AEW] on every platform I can and I want to know the reason he won’t hire me.”

James was also present backstage for IMPACT Wrestling’s Emergence PPV on August 12.

While there has been no word on it yet the return of Road Dogg was likely spurred on by Triple H’s rise to power following Vince McMahon’s decision to step away from the WWE. It is yet another case of a “Triple H guy” gaining some element of leverage in the company.
