Match Point: Rey Fenix & Pentagon Jr vs Andrade El Idolo & Rush ( 8/10/22)

Lucha Bros La Faccion Ingobernable

Match Point is an ongoing series at Last Word on Pro Wrestling, where we look at intriguing matchups in indie wrestling and beyond. They may be dream matches, first-time matchups, or hotly anticipated rematches. This week’s edition dives into the upcoming tornado tag team encounter between Lucha Bros and La Faccion Ingobernable.

Match Point: Lucha Bros vs La Faccion Ingobernable

Two highly decorated lucha libre tag teams colide for the first time ever on AEW Dynamite this week. Former AEW World Tag Team champions Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero have encountered LFI before but in the form of RUSH and Dragon Lee back in November of 2019. The match took place at The Crash anniversary show but unfortunately, there wasn’t a clear winner. Hopefully, that isn’t the case with Andrade el Idolo replacing his godson in the upcoming tag match. Andrade is looking to right the initial wrong of his first year in All Elite Wrestling with the newfound reunion of the tag team alongside RUSH. Penta will more specifically be out for revenge after the LFI duo unmasked him last month during a singles match with RUSH.

There’s a possibility we could see a trios match between Lucha Bros and their ally PAC in Death Triangle against Andrade, RUSH, and Dragon Lee down the road. It could be for the newly minted World Trios Tag Team Championships at stake. La Faccion Ingobernables has high intentions to dominate the scene within AEW but first, they’ll have to get through their long-standing rivalry with PAC, Rey Fenix, and Pentagon Jr collectively known as Death Triangle. RUSH will for sure have his sights on the ultimate prize, the World Championship held by CM Punk. Currently, he’s looking to achieve tag team success with his close associate Andrade el Idolo. When the time is right, we may see Dragon Lee show up in All Elite Wrestling. While the rivalry doesn’t call for a trios match just yet, it is very likely we will see it down the road.

Catch the Lucha Bros vs La Faccion Ingobernable at the Quake at the Lake edition of AEW Dynamite.
