Vacant’s reign at the top is about to come to an end as WWE announced that a tournament to crown new women’s tag team champions will take place starting this Monday night on Raw.
The Women’s Tag Team Championship has been in a state of uncertainty ever since former champions, Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of the company, reportedly over a difference of opinion when it came to creative direction. While Banks and Naomi may return, WWE has decided they will need to crown a new champion in the meantime. The tournament will begin on Monday night, though as of now, the teams that will be taking part have been undetermined.

Of course, the women’s tag team division has certainly not gone away in the last few months, even if it has remained a bit dormant due to the absence of champions. But recently at SummerSlam and the following Raw, WWE placed a strong emphasis on the women’s division and the talented wrestlers in it. Friday night’s SmackDown continued this theme, but the focus was largely on the singles division as a gauntlet match determined Liv Morgan‘s opponent at the upcoming Clash at the Castle. That, however, doesn’t mean that there aren’t trios waiting in the wings on both the red and blue brands.
Both rosters have a strong group of women who are undoubtedly waiting for an opportunity. With Triple H in charge, there is hope that this division will rise to a level that it never quite reached previously. That all begins with the tournament starting next week on Raw.
