AEW Dark: Elevation is back and stacked with seven great matches scheduled for tonight! Leon Ruffin looks to score his first AEW win, but he’ll have a tough time against Men of the Year’s Ethan Page. Speaking of wrestlers trying to get their first AEW win, Amber Nova is back but, unfortunately, is facing off with House of Black’s Julia Hart. Our focus tonight, though, will be on debuting former ROH Pure Champion John Walters as he takes on “The Premier Athlete” Tony Nese on AEW Dark: Elevation.

John Walters vs. Tony Nese
Tony Nese looks to rebound from a loss to “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy. He won’t have an easy out as he faces twenty-two-year veteran and former ROH Pure Champion John Walters on AEW Dark: Elevation. Though he may not be a familiar face to many modern-day fans, Walters was once a fixture of the pure division.
He defeated Doug Williams to capture the belt and would go on to defend it against the likes of Jimmy Rave, Nigel McGuinness, and current All Elite Wrestling roster member Jay Lethal. While Walters has an impressive pedigree, having trained under Killer Kowalski and some great wins, I don’t see him pulling out the win here.
Though he is coming off a loss, Nese has performed great against elite competition such as Cassidy or Swerve Strickland when given the chance. Walters does have great wins, but those were 17 years ago, and most of those wrestlers had not yet found their footing as competitors. Expect a good match-up, but one Nese will ultimately win.
