Reach(ed) for the Sky
Scorpio Sky has finally achieved his dream of becoming the TNT Champion. While Sky’s win over former TNT Champion Sammy Guevara, came under dubious circumstances, it is undeniable how dominant of a force Scorpio Sky is in AEW. Scorpio has been undefeated for over a year, and now has possession of one of the richest prizes All Elite Wrestling has to offer.
However, Scorpio Sky’s reign may very well end before it even has the chance to get started, as he defends this Wednesday night against the Face of the Revolution, “Mr. Mayhem” himself Wardlow. The “War Dog” outlasted five other extremely gifted competitors back at Revolution, and reached for the “brass ring” to secure his date with destiny for Wednesday night’s St. Patrick’s Day Slam.
While Wardlow’s ladder match win is noteworthy on its own, Mr. Mayhem would go on to do the unthinkable back at Revolution. He disassociated himself with The Pinnacle by leaving his former boss MJF behind to fend for himself in a brutal and bloody Dog Collar Match, which saw CM Punk come away with the victory.
These two men have had an outstanding few weeks behind them. However, one will certainly have their string of good fortune abruptly cut this Wednesday night on Dynamite. Who will it be? Find out on a special St. Patrick’s Day Slam edition of AEW’s premier wrestling show live on TBS!
A Year in the Making
One year after their division-defining spectacle back at the first-ever St. Patrick’s Day Slam, the champion Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. battle it out once more with her arch-nemesis and number one contender Thunder Rosa. The tension between these two women is not strictly professional anymore. It became personal the moment Baker decided to once again cheat Rosa out of the AEW Women’s World Championship back at Revolution.
“La Mera Mera” has the doctor dead to rights multiple times throughout the contest. However, with constant distractions from Jamie Hayter and Rebel, Baker remains your undisputed AEW Women’s World Champion. Rosa would once again find herself in the title picture by defeating number one ranked “Legit” Leyla Hirsch last week on Dynamite.
That win sets her up for another chance at the gold, and a rematch of one of the most brutal unsanctioned contests AEW has ever had; which could prove to be more brutal, as this time, it will be inside a solid Steel Cage.
Something’s got to give this Wednesday night. With everything on the line, who will come out on top? Will it be Baker once again finding a way to keep the title in her possession? Or will Thunder Rosa finally receive her redemption in the form of the AEW Women’s World Title?
