Another exciting edition of AEW Rampage comes to you this Friday night fight night. Two huge championship matches have been sanctioned as both the FTW and TNT Championships are on the line. Plus, The Elite‘s favorite son looks to make a statement against one of the founding fathers of The Dark Order. Last but not least, a grudge match for the ages as two of AEW’s best collide on Rampage. If this preview of this Friday night’s AEW Rampage doesn’t get fans’ motor running, we don’t know what will.
We all know it’s Friday night, and you know what that means. This is Rampage! Let’s run it down.
Full AEW Rampage Match Card:

- TNT Championship Match: Sammy Guevara (c) vs. Isiah Kassidy
An Absolutely Lethal Challenge
On the January 14th edition of AEW Rampage, “The Franchise” Jay Lethal called out “Absolute” Ricky Starks in front of a rowdy Raleigh, North Carolina crowd and challenged him to a match with the FTW Championship on the line. The bad blood between these two phenomenal athletes came about when Jay Lethal came to the aid of Dante Martin in his match grudge match against Powerhouse Hobbs.
Having had enough of Starks’ constant interference in the match, Lethal took it into his own hands to do away with the “Absolute” one. Starks took exception to this and on the aforementioned edition of Rampage, Ricky had very bad things to say about Jay throughout the night. Lethal, not taking things lying down, ultimately provoked Starks into this match with the title up for grabs.
The match is set for this Friday night on Rampage. Ricky Starks is an amazing wrestler with all the confidence in the world. However, Jay Lethal is a Ring of Honor grand slam champion. Of course, he will do whatever it takes to have his first taste of gold in AEW. Something’s got to give and only one will walk away with the title held high. It’s Ricky Starks battling it out with Jay Lethal for the FTW World Championship on an exciting edition of Friday night Rampage!
The “OG Badass” Goes to War with “La Mera Mera”
Mercedes Martinez makes her in-ring AEW return, after almost three years, as she faces off with a royally ticked-off Thunder Rosa. Martinez cost Rosa a Finals spot in the TBS Championship Tournament by assisting the eventual first-ever TBS Champion Jade Cargill on the December 29th edition of Dynamite.
Thunder Rosa worked so hard to get to that point. Unfortunately, it was shattered in mere moments due to Mercedes’ brutal assault. “La Mera Mera” being the fighter that she is, has laid down the gauntlet and challenged Mercedes Martinez to a match this week on Rampage. Without even a second thought, Mercedes accepted the offer and it’s now official for this Friday night’s spectacular card.
These two women have a mighty bone to pick with one another and there are possibly no lengths they wouldn’t go to shorten each other’s career. Will Thunder Rosa finally get her revenge? Or will Mercedes Martinez viciously beat “La Mera Mera”? Find out this Friday night fight night only on TNT!
