The Bron Breakker Era has officially arrived to NXT 2.0. On Tuesday night at New Year’s Evil, the young rising star defeated Tommaso Ciampa to become the new NXT Champion for the first time in his career. The loss for Ciampa ends his second reign with the NXT Championship at 112 days.
This NXT Championship contest approached its conclusion when, after several running knees and a Willow’s Bell, Breakker was able to kick out of a near 3-count. From there, Ciampa and Breakker battled on the top turnbuckle, the latter receiving the better of the exchange. From there, Breakker hit a top rope bulldog before cinching in a Steiner Recliner. Ciampa had no choice but to submit, crowning Breakker as the new NXT Champion.

Bron Breakker Captures the NXT Championship
Bron Breakker made his debut on the first edition of NXT 2.0, establishing himself as one of the new faces of the brand. That same night saw him defeat LA Knight in the very first match as well, forcing the world to take notice of the amped-up star who screamed comparisons to his uncle, “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner. Breakker was instantly established with the one win, showing that it would be sooner rather than later that he rose to the top. At the conclusion of that episode, he got in the face of the Ciampa which ultimately led to his first title match. Breakker came up short but would get the victory back against Ciampa when he and the new generation defeated the old inside WarGames. Tied at 1-1 against each other, all signs pointed to them having one more match.
Now on top of NXT 2.0 as its new poster boy, Breakker will aim to make a statement that he’s not only NXT’s present but WWE’s future as the new champion.
