Hiromu Takahashi Wins BOSJ Tournament… Again

Hiromu Takahashi Wins BOSJ Tournament for Third Time

In case you missed the news this morning, Hiromu Takahashi won the BOSJ (Best of the Super Juniors) Tournament for a third time; tying the record for most wins, alongside Jushin Thunder Liger and Koji Kanemoto. This is also the second year in a row that Takahashi has won the tournament – equaling the record of Tiger Mask IV, who won back-to-back in 2004 and 2005.

In overcoming YOH with yet another record breaking distinction (that of longest match in BOSJ history) in the final, Takahashi will now turn his attention to El Desperado at the Tokyo Dome for next month’s Wrestle Kingdom 16, where Takahashi will be looking to reclaim the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. He will be carrying all of the momentum garnered from BOSJ with him and will be hoping for a positive kick-start to his 2022.

Other news coming out of the NJPW show held in Sumo Hall, Ryogoku Japan this morning is that Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI overcame EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi to claim the World Tag League Tournament – a third time win for Hirooki and a first for Yoshi. The team of Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi now awaits the CHAOS duo at Wrestle Kingdom 16. With the likes of Kazuchika Okada, KENTA, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tam Nakano and Mayu Iwatani already set for big matches at the Toky Dome, Wrestle Kingdom 16 is shaping up to be another stellar show from the Japanese promotion.
