Report: Jeff Hardy Released By WWE

Jeff Hardy released

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful is reporting that Jeff Hardy has been released by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Sapp adds in a follow-up report that WWE offered Hardy help and rehab but it was not accepted. The release comes days after a report by PWInsider that Hardy was sent home from the most recent Holiday Tour after leaving in the middle of a match.

The release marks the end of Hardy’s third stint with the company after returning with his brother Matt Hardy in 2017. The Hardy Boyz made their surprise return at WrestleMania 33, winning the Raw Tag Team Championships in a Ladder Match on their first night back. During this latest stint with WWE, Hardy won the Raw Tag Team Championship one-time, SmackDown Tag Team Championship one-time, the Intercontinental Championship for the fifth time in his career, and completed his status as a “Grand Slam Champion” by winning the United States Championship for the first time as well.

Jeff Hardy most recently participated as part of the SmackDown brand after being drafted there during the WWE Draft. He was the final elimination in the Men’s Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match, losing to Seth Rollins who was ultimately the sole survivor.

If this is the conclusion of Hardy’s run in WWE, then he managed to put together a Hall of Fame resume. Hardy finishes as a nine-time tag team champion, five-time Intercontinental Champion, one-time United States Champion, one-time WWE Light Heavyweight Champion, three-time Hardcore Champion, one-time European Champion, one-time WWE Champion, and two-time World Heavyweight Champion.
