On Friday night, Expect The Unexpected (ETU) Wrestling makes its heavily anticipated debut with its eponymous debut event airing live on IndependentWrestling.tv (IWTV) at 8pm EST. While the card has remained mostly a mystery, the slow reveal of the roster of talent appearing on Friday’s premier showcase features a great cross-section of past indie legends and strong up-and-comers, not only from the U.S. scene but internationally as well. Featuring a huge IWTV Independent Wrestling World Championship title defense, Alex Shelley‘s first since winning the championship in October at IWTV Untitled, here’s a rundown of what we know and what we can expect for Friday’s ETU show.
Two massive main event caliber matches already announced for our debut event on Dec. 3rd. The six other matches on the card? Buy a ticket and come find out! #ExpectTheUnexpected Limited tickets still remain. Speak now, https://t.co/BcC4IQfQUH pic.twitter.com/BYFLVhCPqr

ACH vs JONAH
One of only two announced matches for the evening, Friday will mark ACH‘s fourth match since returning to the ring from a brief retirement earlier this year. He’s had a great showing in AAW so far and also returned to Major League Wrestling (MLW) recently, but on Friday night he faces off against international star and former NXT North American Champion JONAH (formerly Bronson Reed in NXT and known as Jonah Rock prior to his WWE signing in 2019). Both men were huge stars in the international indies, having both worked for NJPW in their careers (with JONAH back on NJPW STRONG now, as well as debuting in IMPACT Wrestling), so this is an international showcase worth the price alone.
IWTV Independent Wrestling World Championship: Alex Shelley (c) vs. John Wayne Murdoch
In his first defense of his IWTV Independent Wrestling World Championship, Alex Shelly is facing a man that many have been clamoring for an opportunity for over a year now, in John Wayne Murdoch. The reigning ICW American Deathmatch Champion and former 6x IWA Mid South World Champion has been chasing this title for a while now but he finally gets his opportunity to take home IWTV’s top title.
Scheduled to Appear:
Featuring a smattering of legends, veterans and rising stars, two standout names have got to be the return of The SAT tag team of Joel & Jose Maximo. The two competed from 2000 to 2010 together, competing for Ring of Honor, Major League Wrestling (MLW), and TNA/IMPACT Wrestling in the early days of each company, and were mainstays in the New York/New Jersey indie scene, capturing multiple tag team titles along the way. Also scheduled to compete is another early veteran, Joker, who competed in CZW, winning the CZW World Tag Team titles with Eddie Kingston (once) and BLK Jesus (twice), as well as the CZW Iron Man Championship. His appearances have been extremely limited over the past decade.
