Preview: AEW Dynamite (12/1/21) – Andrade vs. Cody Rhodes, Atlanta Street Fight

AEW Dynamite Andrade Cody Rhodes

All Elite Wrestling kicks off the month of December in the greater Atlanta area as it plays host to another edition of its premier show, AEW Dynamite. Winter may be coming, but “Hotlanta” is about to get heated for some #AllElite action come this Wednesday night! On this week’s show, two undefeated teams will look to settle their differences and battle it out to see who leaves with their records spotless and intact. “The American Dragon” moves onto another member of The Dark Order in his quest to assert his dominance over the AEW World Champion. Finally, “The American Nightmare” is looking for revenge against “The Idol” after the events of last week as Andrade battles Cody Rhodes. There is plenty more where that came from! Because, it’s Wednesday night, and you know what that means! Time for some Dynamite. Let’s run it down.

Full AEW Dynamite Match Card

  • Atlanta Street Fight: Andrade El Idolo vs. Cody Rhodes
  • TBS Women’s Championship Tournament Quarterfinals – Kris Statlander vs. Ruby Soho
  • CM Punk vs. Lee Moriarty
  • Bryan Danielson vs. Dark Order’s Alan “5” Angels
  • Gunn Club vs. Sting & Darby Allin

First Taste Of Defeat

Ever since the Gunn Club turned their backs on Paul Wight, they have had a newfound edge. And, they’re making it crystal-clear that they will no longer be overlooked. That was even more evident when they mercilessly beat down Sting and Darby Allin, who just had a fierce battle against the father of the group, Billy Gunn, last week on AEW Rampage. Why they chose to conduct themselves like this is anybody’s guess at this point. But, it has indeed paid dividends for them. The Gunn Club is still undefeated as a tag team. Colten Gunn on his own has a spotless record in AEW competition, whether it’s in singles or tag team affairs.

With that being said, maybe the Gunn Club failed to notice who they’re dealing with: “The Icon” Sting and the “Heart and Soul of AEW” Darby Allin. Sting is a legend of this industry and is considered by many to be one of the greatest to ever do it. Right by his side is undoubtedly the future of professional wrestling and Allin has proven time and time again he is undeniable. This is going to be one exciting tag team war come this Wednesday night. Two undefeated tag teams collide and only one survives. It all happens live on TNT!

The Atlanta Nightmare: Andrade vs. Cody Rhodes

The competitors involved in that eight-man tag team main event last week tore the house down. It’s just a shame that it all had to conclude under dubious circumstances. The main event match was hot from start to finish. Pac was on the verge of hitting the Black Arrow on Andrade El Idolo when Malakai Black, behind the referee’s back, spewed mist into the face of “The Bastard.” Andrade capitalized after the fact and pinned Pac for the win. Black, Andrade, and, FTR celebrated this big victory over the fallen bodies of Death Triangle and Cody Rhodes.

However, Andrade was not quite done. Post-match, “The Idol” stripped the padding that surrounds the vicinity of the ring. His purpose was to maim and injure and he had his eyes firmly set on “The American Nightmare”. One Hammerlock DDT on exposed concrete later, Rhodes was down for the count. Cody will not take this lying down. And, sure enough, an Atlanta Street Fight has been sanctioned for this episode of AEW Dynamite. Andrade will be stepping into the wheelhouse of Rhodes quite literally this Wednesday. The Georgia native will look for a little payback in this no-rules affair. Will Andrade El Idolo finish what he started last week, or will Cody Rhodes deliver punishment Andrade will not soon forget?
