#AndNEW: Robbie Eagles and Tiger Mask Win IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles

Flying Tiger Robbie Eagles and Tiger Mask Win IWGP Tag Team Titles

The team of Robbie Eagles and Tiger Mask defeated the Suzuki-gun team of El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru on Tuesday morning to become the new IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. Flying Tiger, as Eagles and Tiger Mask are smartly named, have their first title win as a team with the win at Road To Power Struggle. Eagles is the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, so this title win only adds to what has become a banner year for him since making his return to New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). Tiger Mask, on the other hand, earns his second reign with the tag titles as his first dates back to his time teaming with Jushin Thunder Liger in 2012. The win also ends El Desperado and Kanemaru’s sixth reign at 51 days.

With the win, Robbie Eagles follows El Desperado in terms of holding the singles and tag team IWGP Junior Titles at the same time. It will be interesting to see how Flying Tiger defends their championships moving forward as the belts have changed hands six times in 2021. They will have to hope that they can make it into the new year as champions. It becomes more likely as Best of the Super Juniors is sure to keep all the junior tag teams and wrestlers occupied until late December. They are the 67th overall champions.
