Preview: AEW Saturday Night Dynamite (10/23/21) – Malakai Black vs. Cody Rhodes III

Cody Rhodes vs Malakai Black III on AEW Saturday Night Dynamite

AEW Dynamite emanates from the Addition Arena as All Elite Wrestling makes their Orlando, Florida debut this Saturday night.  The action intensifies as the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament continues. “The Natural” will battle “The American Dragon” and “The Murderhawk Monster” promises a fight rather than a straight-up wrestling match as he goes up against “The Mad King” himself. Also, the third chapter in this grueling war commences as “The American Nightmare” once against tests his will against the demon of “The House of Black”. We just might be scratching the surface of what could take place this Saturday night. Knowing AEW, there will be loads more to expect week in and week out. Buckle in, folks, it’s going to be a wild ride on this week’s edition of Dynamite. Let’s run it down.

Full AEW Dynamite Match Card:

  • Malakai Black vs. Cody Rhodes: III
  • AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament – First Round: Lance Archer vs. Eddie Kingston
  • AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament – First Round: Dustin Rhodes vs. Bryan Danielson

The Final Battle?

“The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes will once again be testing fate as he steps into the ring with Malakai Black for the third time. Black has absolutely demolished Rhodes in their first two meetings. Both matches took a toll on Cody that he ended up pondering his future in the wrestling business. Rhodes felt like he has done anything and everything but to no avail. Sure, he was hellbent on avenging The Nightmare Family as well as his own honor but he can’t quite exorcise the demon. Cody’s coach and longtime mentor Arn Anderson had to step in and show him some tough love. Arn believes that with all that’s going on with Cody outside of wrestling, he has lost his killer instinct along the way. This was not the Cody Rhodes that Arn Anderson once knew. He’s just the shell of the great competitor he once was.

Cody Rhodes, being totally caught off guard, is once again challenging himself to do the unthinkable. He wants to prove all the doubters wrong and that includes The Nightmare Family and Arn Anderson. In Cody’s mind, he can beat Malakai but he has to find it in himself to bring back the competitor that once dominated the wrestling world. Malakai Black’s path of destruction stops for no one. Black will surely welcome the challenge and opportunity to possibly put down “The American Nightmare” once and for all. Will Cody Rhodes finally conquer the darkness or will Malakai end Cody for good this time?

Calling Your Shot

The first round of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament continues on Dynamite, as the veteran Dustin Rhodes takes on the red-hot Bryan Danielson. Dustin is a 33-year veteran of the wrestling industry. Even in, what most consider the twilight of his career, Dustin Rhodes has not lost a step. With that being said, what has eluded “The Natural” in his illustrious career is the top prize in a major promotion. Rhodes has never won the big one and this might be his final shot at possibly climbing the mountain. This will be quite the trek, as across from him will be one of the best professional wrestlers in the world in the form of Bryan Danielson. That statement was further highlighted by his truly stellar match against “The King” Minoru Suzuki on last week’s AEW Rampage: Buy-In show. “The American Dragon” has made waves since his debut in AEW and he looks to make another one, if he ends up going all the way to challenge for the AEW World Championship.

Two competitors with one goal in mind; a world championship opportunity. The tournament heats up on Saturday night as both competitors look to advance into the Semi-finals and inch one step closer to a title match against either Hangman Page or Kenny Omega. Will Dustin Rhodes take a step closer to possibly realizing a dream or will Bryan Danielson take the win for himself and advance to the next round? Find out on a special Saturday night AEW Dynamite live on TNT!
