Heels On Starz Episode 8 Review: Double Turn

Heels On Starz Episode 8

Heels On Starz Episode 8 started off with another flashback, documenting the childhood history of Jack and Ace Spade. Their father, Tom Spade, came off in an abusive fashion before the scene cut back to the modern day, picking up where we left off in Episode 7.

Heels On Starz Episode 8 Recap and Review

Jack and Ace are seen running through the FWD backstage area, ducking and dodging security at every turn. Eventually, they both make it out of the arena and hop in the car, driving away back towards Duffy. As they drive, Jack questions Ace’s intentions and Ace comes clean about how Jack never listens to anybody but himself.

FWD’s locker room is livid over the hi-jacking of their show, so Rooster Robbins and Charlie Gully make a plan to retaliate.

Staci’s finally fed up, and Crystal receives another opportunity.

As Jack makes it home from Jacksonville, he arrives home to a note from his wife concerning her whereabouts. She decided to stay the night at a friend’s house.

Wild Bill shows up at Crystal’s house and offers her a spot to be his “Bunny Bombshell” valet. Crystal seems reluctant at first but eventually says she’ll think about it.

Wild Bill then shows up at Duffy’s warehouse, where he, Ace, and Jack are training for the match. The whole roster is standing around ringside as the training goes very well and everybody seems in high spirits headed into the State Fair event.

Jack and Staci eventually come face to face. Staci pours out her feelings about Jack’s recent actions and his deadlocked focus on the DWL. Staci ended her speech by saying “I married a face, but that’s not what you are now.” Jack asks Staci to come home and promises to be better, but Staci declines the offer and tells him to focus on the DWL like he always does.

State Fair Day

The locker room is gearing up for the big day at the state fair when Crystal shows up in the bunny outfit. She’s accepted back into the DWL locker room by both Jack and the rest of the roster.

The locker room then travels to the arena, which is huge. Jack gives an impassioned speech to the roster and everybody seems on the same page headed into the event.

As the main event entrances take place, Wild Bill gets massive cheers while both of the Spade brothers get heavily booed. As the match progresses, Bill and Jack start double-teaming Ace – which prompts the crowd to get behind him.

Charlie Gully is shown in the crowd and he starts a chant for Jack, prompting Ace to lose his confidence a bit. As the finish of the match approaches, Wild Bill has a bad flatulence accident and forces himself to lay on the apron and hope nobody notices.

Charlie Gully gets revenge… or does he?

Ace and Jack are at the top of the ladder, about to finish the match when Charlie Gully starts throwing tissue packets at them from the crowd. This obviously prompts the crowd to go along with the throwing, since they were all given tissue packets as well. Ace immediately thinks that Jack planned it all, but Jack tells him that he planned it the first time around but not this time. Ace completely loses his cool and socks Jack off the ladder. Ace throws the ladder out of the ring and begins beating down Jack as the match completely falls apart.

Wild Bill’s manager, Crystal, calls an audible on the spot and sets up the ladder to climb it herself after getting the OK from both Jack and the referee. Just as Crystal is about to reach the top, Charlie Gully tries to run in from the crowd but is promptly met with a right hand from Bill Hancock.

Crystal grabs the belt and the crowd goes bonkers. The slow-motion reaction shots focus on Jack, Ace, and Crystal as the show closes out.

Heels On Starz Episode 8 – In Closing

What an ending that was. For the entire duration of the show, Crystal has been constantly screwed out of multiple chances and opportunities just because she’s a woman. After being told no on so many occasions, seeing her win the title belt in the main event of the league’s biggest show was a very heartfelt moment – which is what wrestling is all about.

Wild Bill getting a bit of a redemption angle was interesting as well.

Although a few storylines were left untied, I can feel a second season coming so I’m not too upset about it.

Within the next few days, I’ll have a piece up on the site listing my full list of positives and negatives for the entire first season, starting with Episode 1.
