Preview: AEW Rampage (10/8/21) – Punk vs. Garcia

AEW Rampage Preview - Brian Cage vs Ricky Starks Graphic / AEW Rampage Results

All Elite Wrestling hits “The City of Brotherly Love” Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this Friday on AEW Rampage. AEW’s flagship show AEW Dynamite just celebrated its second anniversary on the air this past Wednesday night but everybody’s new favorite Friday night wrestling habit will not be outdone in Philly. Rampage will surely carve out its own legacy with spectacular matches and wrestling moments we will not soon forget. And, before we all know it, we shall be celebrating the success of the Friday program on its one-year anniversary. But, for this week it is business as usual and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

On this week’s edition of AEW Rampage, Two titles are up for grabs as the Masked Champions defend against probably the cockiest team in AEW. The “Absolute” one puts the precious hardware on the line as he takes on “The Machine” in what promises to be an all-out brawl. The number one-ranked woman in the AEW Women’s ranking takes on a young hopeful. Last but certainly not least, “The Best In The World” fights AEW’s best-kept secret. Friday is Fight Night and it all goes down on AEW Rampage. Let’s do this thing and run it down.

Full AEW Rampage Card:

  • CM Punk vs. Daniel Garcia (w/2Point0)
  • Skye Blue vs. Jade Cargill (w/”Smart” Mark Sterling)
  • FTW Championship Match – “Philly Street Fight”: Ricky Starks (c) vs. Brian Cage
  • AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: Lucha Brothers (c) (w/Alex Abrahantes) vs. The Acclaimed

Jockeying For Position

This past Wednesday on AEW DynamiteTony Khan, proxied by Tony Schiavone, was pleased to announce that with their flagship show’s move to TBS this coming January 2022 a new championship title will come along with it. Senior official Aubrey Edwards unveiled the beautiful TBS Championship in front of the live crowd in Philadephia. The title will be contested in the AEW Women’s Division. This will create more opportunities as well as light the fire in each and every competitor in the back to christen the new title as its first-ever champion. Anybody whose anybody threw their name in the hat as a TBS Championship Tournament will be held in January of 2022 to crown the first holder of the title. Two of the names wanting the opportunity to compete for the title will battle it out this Friday night. These two women are Jade Cargill and Skye Blue.

Cargill objectively has the edge. Jade has had a spectacular rookie year, thus far. Cargill remains undefeated on her way up the ranks. She sits atop everyone being ranked number one in the AEW hierarchy. Nevertheless, Skye Blue is a spunky young upstart who has a lot of fire in her and she wants to make a statement and achieve superstardom with the possibility of being crowned the first TBS Champion. Two completely different trajectories but with one common destination; Domination. Whoever wins this definitely makes a stronger case for themselves to book a spot in that TBS Championship Tournament come the new year. Will Skye Blue prove she can hang with the biggest and baddest or will Jade Cargill show her “That B-tch” and reign supreme?

Taking Care Of Business

The city of “Brotherly Love” showed massive amounts of love to their Straightedge Savior this past Wednesday night. CM Punk came out and spoke to his loyal fans with cheers and adoration being rained down upon him. Punk states he is not sick of this one bit. He has professional wrestling running in his veins 24/7, 365 and he’s loving every minute of it. Which reminded him of something. Namely, a faction that almost ended it before it started. Punk harkened back to the actions of Daniel Garcia and 2Point0.

Without beating around the bush, Punk challenged Garcia on this week’s Rampage to settle the score once and for all. CM Punk is not playing around anymore. He can only imagine the horror of what could’ve been if Garcia, Matt Lee, and, Jeff Parker succeeded in their plans on taking out “The Best in The World”. Punk will try to put that thought to bed and possibly Garcia will Go2Sleep along with it. Garcia and Punk, possibly the fight of the night and you shall witness it this Friday night on TNT.
