Ruby Soho Is Ready to Riott

Ruby Riott

Earlier this year, as part of one of their many clearouts, WWE released Ruby Riott.  The former Heidi Lovelace didn’t wait around before rebranding as Ruby Soho and began to hype her inevitable return.  Soho’s bio on Twitter is currently just the term “Destination Unknown”.  Destination Unknown is notably a lyric in the song Ruby Soho by Rancid, a song which Rancid guitarist Lars Frederiksen has seemingly given Soho permission to use in wrestling.

Ruby Soho has recently begun hyping up her return with some videos released on her social media. The first sees Soho, now sporting red hair as opposed to the green hair she was last seen within WWE, missing a train.  As the video ends we see “The Runaway” on the screen which is exactly what Soho wrote in one of the first tweets she released to hype her return.

The second video released by Soho sees her steal a car as the song Black Sheep by Metric playes over the scene.  Soho doesn’t get very far in the car before it stops working, leaving her panicked.  As the video ends we once again see “The Runaway” appear on the screen.  While Ruby Soho hasn’t gone with the usual escaping the prison-style videos following her WWE release she is branded as “the runaway” and it doesn’t take much to connect the dots as to what it is she is running from.

Then came the defining video.  A video littered with references to Soho’s past incarnations.  What she spray paints on the wall can be interpreted as Love less, which is likely a callback to her original indie name Heidi Lovelace, the next is when she walks past some graffiti stating that “the riot is over”.  This is an obvious nod to her time in WWE as Ruby Riott as a member of the Riot squad.  It becomes clear in this video that the Ruby of old is gone, in fact she says as much when showing her ID to security, Heidi Lovelace has expired, “The Runaway” Ruby Soho is here.

It’s this third video that ties together the transformation of Heidi Lovelace/Ruby Riott to “The Runaway” Ruby Soho.  Soho is rocking out on the streets, chugging beers, and generally being a punk while Rancid’s Ruby Soho plays in the background.  Ruby missed her train and her initial destination and decided to forge her own path to Destination Unknown.
