NXT UK Sponsors Enfield Town FC

NXT UK talent with new Enfield Town FC kit

The WWE has revealed a “first of its kind” partnership between NXT UK and Enfield Town Football Club. The deal will see the NXT UK become the official shirt sponsor of the seventh-tier club Enfield Town.

Enfield Town FC seems like a strange choice at first as the club play in the Isthmian League Premier Division and only has a capacity of 2,500 at its Queen Elizabeth II Stadium. Its past two seasons have also been cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. But the Towners are a wholly fan-owned club and play close to the NXT UK Performance Centre.

WWE Legend Triple H revealed the partnership in a Twitter video.

Putting Fans At The Centre

He said Enfield shared the WWE’s passion for putting fans at the centre of everything they do.

“Enfield in London has played a big part in the journey of NXT UK since the opening of our UK Performance Centre and that’s why I’m proud to announce today the first of its kind partnership between NXT UK and Enfield Town Football C in celebration of their 20 year anniversary,” Triple H added.

The announcement involved a photoshoot between Enfield Town FC players and NXT UK Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura and fellow superstars Dani Luna, Eddie Dennis, Sam Gradwell and Levi Muir.

It will be interesting to see if NXT UK superstars return to the stadium for live shows soon. NXT UK has been broadcasting from the closed BT Sports Studio during the pandemic.

The news marks a big week for NXT UK as WALTER will defend the United Kingdom Championship against Ilja Dragunov at NXT TakeOver 36 on Sunday August 22.

Enfield Town FC will next play Brightlingsea Regent at home at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium on Saturday August 21. Enfield Town’s home shirt – complete with NXT UK sponsor – is available from its website.
