For quite some time, Northeast Championship Wrestling has been putting out great episodic wrestling via YouTube with their Behind Closed Doors series. Now, NCW is on its way to bringing live wrestling back to Dedham, MA with the 2021 Big City Rumble. This will be the first time NCW has had a show with fans in quite some time. Let’s run down the action set for August 20.
NCW 2021 Big City Rumble Full Card
Anything Goes Hardcore Grudge Match: The Lumberjake vs Tim Lennox
This feud has been building within the Behind Closed Doors series on YouTube. Now, live in front of fans, it will come to a head as The Lumberjake looks to exact revenge. Tim Lennox is a bit unpredictable, though, so this match might not end fairly. Neither of these competitors might make it to the Rumble Match itself; the Rumble in question will be detailed later.
“Riot” Kellan Thomas vs Armani Kayos
If both Kellan Thomas and Armani Kayos plan to be in the Rumble, is it a wise decision for them to also have a match on this show? “Riot” Kellan Thomas is the current LPW Heavyweight Champion over in Lucky Pro Wrestling, which would seemingly put him at an advantage here. However, Armani Kayos will do whatever it takes to get the job done, so he should be the odds-on favorite to win this one.
Last Chance for Lovers Big City Rumble Opportunity: Randy Rivera vs Love, Doug
When you think of love, you must think of Love, Doug. Being that this is a Last Chance For Lovers Match, it would make sense that Love, Doug is favored to win it. Whoever wins this match may not be guaranteed a victory in the Rumble, as it feels like this would put them at a definite disadvantage over everyone else. Love, Doug could be odds on favorite to win this whole thing, though, and become the new NCW Heavyweight Champion.
NCW Women’s Championship # 1 Contenders Gauntlet Match: Isana vs Jessie Nolan vs Little Mean Kathleen vs Sarah Teller vs Paris Van Dale
The current reigning and defending NCW Women’s Champion is Becca, who has gold in multiple promotions. The winner of this match will receive a title shot against Becca at a later date. One must wonder if the woman to win this match will ride momentum into the Rumble and win that as well. Imagine, for example, NCW Heavyweight Champion Isana vs NCW Women’s Champion Becca.
Jessie Nolan and Isana seem to be the odds-on favorite to win this match, though Little Mean Kathleen has had a sorted history with Becca and may not be through with her. Someone like Sarah Teller or Paris Van Dale could pull off the surprise victory; since this is a Gauntlet Match, having that last spot to enter gives a competitor the advantage. These are five of the best women in the New England scene today and this match might just steal the show.
NCW Tag Team Championship: The Big Boys (Brad Cashew and Ricky Smokes) vs The Little Giants (Bullet Joe Barreto and Robbie “The Giant” Araujo)
It feels a little bit too obvious to say that The Big Boys have the size advantage here, but Brad Cashew and Ricky Smokes have known each other long enough that it’s going to take a lot from another team to defeat them. The Little Giants – Bullet Joe Barreto and Robbie “The Giant” Araujo – might just be a team that The Big Boys overlook (no pun intended) and are not an easy victory. This match might result in the biggest upset on the entire show!
NCW 2021 Big City Rumble Match for the NCW Heavyweight Championship
Not many competitors are known for this match. However, we do know that it will be for the vacant NCW Heavyweight Championship, which Vern Vicallo was stripped of due to an injury caused by BRG. BRG is set to enter the Rumble at the number one spot while Channing Thomas is going to be the last entrant. What happens in between there is a lot of mystery although we do know that the Big City Rumble match is a tribute to WWE‘s Royal Rumble. NCW’s Rumble Match is expected to play out as such.
Anyone on this card or someone unannounced could leave this show as the new champion. What type of surprises will NCW have up its sleeves? Could local favorite Anthony Greene make his return to the area and capture the vacant title? Could Becca win the Rumble and hold two titles at once? The possibilities are too numerous to ponder, but that is perhaps the most exciting part about this match.
