#AndNEW: Keith Youngblood Wins NEW LIVE Championship at Resurgence

Keith Youngblood vs Brad Hollister

Northeast Wrestling (NEW) recently (6/27/21) returned to fans with their NEW Resurgence event. The event featured the main event of Keith Youngblood vs. Brad Hollister for the Northeast Wrestling LIVE Championship.

The NEW Live Championship is a relatively new championship, with the championship introduced by the promotion towards the tail-end of 2020 – Christian Casanova (now NXT‘s Carmelo Hayes) was the inaugural champion. He would drop the title to Hollister in January of this year, at NEW’s NEW Studio Wars #7 event. In this reign, he would defend against notable stars like Mike Tavern and Mike Gamble. His next title defense was major, and his last, as he was to come up against one of the top stars of the company, Keith Youngblood.

For context, Keith Youngblood, from 2019, was the heavily-focused on, main event talent of the upper card. Before the pandemic, he was feuding with the NEW Heavyweight Champion, Dan Maff, after winning a rumble match; they would have two brutal matches in a gutsy feud. It seemed like he was on a fast-track to becoming the NEW’s new Heavyweight Champion, with a third match supposed to happen. But it never did happen due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A year later, Keith Youngblood would battle Brad Hollister in his third title defense. In this match, Keith Youngblood would win the NEW Live Championship. This would mark the 4th championship that he has held with Northeast Wrestling. He is also a former NEW Tag Team Champion with Jerry Lawler and Daniel Evans. This also marks his first singles championship run in Northeast Wrestling.
