#AndNEW: Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo Win IWGP Jr. Tag Straps

Taiji Ishimori and El Phantasmo win IWGP Jr. Tag titles

At today’s Kizuna Road event in Korakuen Hall the latest IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship reign of Roppongi 3K (SHO & YOH) came to an end at the hand of Bullet Club pair El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori.  This marks the third time the Bullet Club duo have held these titles and their second reign in 2021 alone.

Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo Cut Roppongi 3K’s Reign Short

SHO and YOH’s fifth reign with the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship lasted just 80 days with one successful defense to their name. This is the third short reign that Roppongi 3K has had with the titles across just five reigns as they never seem to keep a hold of the titles for too long.

This is yet another short reign with the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship which has been tossed from team to team ever since Suzuki-Gun dropped them at the start of 2021, this game of hot potato isn’t doing any favors for the already barren division with the titles feeling less and less valuable with each passing defense.  NJPW is going back to basics with Roppongi 3K presumably returning to chase mode for the tag titles.  Let’s hope that they don’t resort to having SHO and YOH winning Jr. Tag League again as part of this story.
