During the Belmont Stakes pre-show, it was announced that SummerSlam 2021 will take place at the home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, Allegiant Stadium. Allegiant Stadium in Nevada was the long-rumored home for SummerSlam 2021 but it is now official. The venue has a capacity of 65,000 spectators for Football which supposedly be expanded to 72,000. With professional wrestling being somewhat unique in terms of venue layout it is possible that the WWE can squeeze in even more than 72,000 spectators for the “Greatest Party Of The Summer”.
With COVID-19 restrictions easing at a faster rate than ever SummerSlam is on course to be the WWE’s biggest event in over a year as even WrestleMania this year was limited to roughly 20,000 fans on each night. This event will cap off WWE’s return to live touring which kicks off with a massive edition of SmackDOwn in Texas on July 16.
With SummerSlam being WWE’s return to running massive venues it has been rumored that they will pull out all the stops for the event with John Cena vs Roman Reigns rumored to be on the table according to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast. Zarian has also reported that WWE will be pulling out all the stops for this show, we think Reigns vs Cena is more than worthy of the Allegiant Stadium but we may see WWE go for broke and put together some of its biggest matches in some time for SummerSlam 2021.
