WWE NXT Results: In-Depth Match Analysis
Three of NXT’s best male competitors facing off to determine who is next for Karrion Kross and the NXT Championship is never a bad thing. This match opened the show and got it off to a hot start. Johnny Gargano, Kyle O’Reilly, and Pete Dunne traded off blow after blow with hopes of getting their chance at destiny. There was never a moment that these three slowed down as every hit, every strike, and every maneuver meant something. The closing saw Dunne hit the Bitter End on Gargano, but O’Reilly came smashing down with the Diving Knee Strike to break it up. As these two fell out to ringside, Adam Cole ruined the mood as he attacked all three men. Cole smashed all three with chairs before hitting a Brainbuster on Dunne and the Last Shot knee strike on both O’Reilly and Gargano.
While all this led to a Fatal 5-Way being made, the match itself is where we appreciate what they did the most. These three men are the premier athletes of the men’s main event scene and it showed here. After what could be chalked up as a lost year for Gargano in 2020, he has turned back the clock from his days as NXT’s favorite son to show out in the best ways possible. O’Reilly showed that he is still rising as a competitor in the singles division and Dunne continues to show his anger on the road to trying to win himself some gold. A match worth checking out.
