Karrion Kross and Finn Balor had a solid match at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver which saw Kross walked out as the new NXT Champion. It was only right that these two men had one last battle to firmly determine who was the better individual. As the championship was put on the line for the first time by Kross, it was time he shows what kind of pain that was going to ensue on any and all of his challengers. Balor felt that in this one, as from the start to the finish saw a style of physicality that likely no one expected. Kross was bullying Balor for the majority of the match, showing that maybe the former two-time NXT Champion just did not have what it took to take out Kross.

Bless the challenger though, as Balor never gave up. He fought back time and time again but that only angered the champion more. By the time the closing sequence entered, it was the end for Balor. Not one but two forearm smashes to the back of the neck from Kross to Balor followed by multiple boots to the skull when Balor was clearly out. The champion would lock on the Sleeper Hold to finish off Balor and walk out still champion.

This was by far the best match of Kross’s NXT career. These two displayed an immense amount of tension and physicality that made this feel important from start to finish. As Balor heads into the back of the line, Kross will now look ahead with the potential to face Johnny Gargano, Pete Dunne, or Kyle O’Reilly at NXT TakeOver: In Your House.
