Will Ospreay Vacates IWGP World Heavyweight Championship
This news comes after a string of bad news for New Japan as they had a number of talents out of action due to COVID-19 and canceled their events at the Tokyo Dome and Yokohama Stadium due to an extended State of Emergency in Japan limiting attendance numbers for their shows. Will Ospreay’s injury and vacating of the title is the latest thorn in their side.
There is no timetable given for when Will Ospreay is set to return from his injury but his new United Empire faction will have to operate without their leader for the foreseeable future. There is also no currently announced plan for crowning a new IWGP World Heavyweight champion but one would expect Dominion to be the stage when NJPW crowns their new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
