Friday Night SmackDown is upon us once more. The go-home show for WrestleMania Backlash, tonight serves as a final opportunity to get things in order ahead of Sunday’s show. We have just the one match to preview tonight and if you have been following these previews, you’ll know this is nothing new. In the pandemic world where fans can’t attend shows, there is no need to bill shows in advance. So we have to make do with just the one match on offer. That being said, let’s dive right in!
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (c) vs Natalya & Tamina
Should title matches really be taking place two days before the PPV? Yes, neither team are booked onto WrestleMania Backlash, but surely it diminishes the title’s value to defend it on the go-home show for the event as opposed to the, you know, actual event. The feud has been interesting, to say the least. The dynamic between Tamina and Nia Jax, a former team themselves, has been teased heavily. Are loyalties still there? For Shayna’s sake, I hope not. Nia might be the only person to protect her from the magical, voodoo onslaught of Alexa Bliss. Natalya and Tamina might just pull off a victory here and it will be worth tuning in for. That being said, expect the champions to retain, at least for now.
Not Announced But Expected For Friday Night SmackDown
– Roman Reigns and Cesaro are set to have “one last stand” ahead of WrestleMania Backlash. What does this mean? Tune in to find out. Additionally, Jimmy Uso is back! Expect the storyline of his divided loyalties between family and what’s right to continue. He may just acknowledge the Tribal Chief tonight.
– Dominik and Rey Mysterio are the favorites ahead of their SmackDown Tag Team Championships match this Sunday. Might the Dirty Dawgs (Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode) dampen their odds ahead of the event?
– Bianca Belair is heavy favorite ahead of her SmackDown Women’s Championship defense against Bayley this Sunday. Expect Bayley to try to level the playing field.
– Mia Yim/Reckoning might just debut on Friday Night SmackDown tonight. Don’t miss that!
